Japan Day 1
Oct. 11th, 2013 05:59 amYesterday mom and I came up from Santa Rosa to Seattle to stay with Karen and Laura the day before the trip. I read some Durarara!! book 7 on the flight up, which was awesome. At the last minute I told plurk we were in town and TK, Kiwi and Crystal come to meet us at a swanky Red Robin for an hour. It was really fun meeting them all! I also got to meet Karen's cute cute cats.
Next morning we met up with their friend Collin and set off to the air port for a looong long journey by plane and train. I finished book 7 and napped on Karen and read some book 8. The landing in Narita airport was the bumpiest plane landing I've had. I started to fall asleep on the train into Tokyo but it was really cool what I saw, rice fields and bamboo forests and a little ceremonial procession and school uniforms and just. Japan!
We got off at Shibuya station, we're staying in Shibuya for the next few days, and walked to our hotel. Laura and Collin went out scouting and mom, Karen and I took showers and told my uncle Pete to meet us. He came to the hotel (he's living in Shinjuku now) and we all visited then went out to a katsu place Laura found. We had dinner! Then on the way back picked up desert.
I went out with Pete and Collin to hang at the bar and listen to them talk for a while, but finally came back to my room because, frankly, I'm tired as heck and need sleep.
It was a wonderful, exciting, long, long long day.
